Sterile Filtration
Elodea & Respiration
Microphotographs of elodea, including chloroplasts, plus detailed shots of manometers.
Now Available
Shows filter flasks and syringe filters, both alone and in use.
Haemacytometers & Cell Counting
Animal Tissue Culture Microphotographs
Spectrophotometers and Cuvettes
Images of spectrophotmeters and cuvettes, including both disposable and glass cuvettes, their holders, adjustment knobs and panels. Close-ups of haemacytometers, cover slips, and counters, with microphotographs of the counting chamber, using tetrahymena to simulate the count.
Laboratory Glassware, etc. HPLC
Microscopy The easiest way to show your entire class pipets, glassware, etc. The HPLC images cover the various components of the HPLC instrumentation and computer, with tight shots of various working parts. Also shown are extreme close-ups of Hamilton syringes and columns, so you can easily demonstrate to your students the differences in volumes.
The Microscopy page provides links to all of the images in the microphotography photo bank section. Subjects include pond life, muscle tissue, nervous tissue, and various types of epithelial tissue. Many are done at several different levels of magnification.
Pipets & Pipetting
Images of serological pipets, multi-channel pipets, micropipets with close-ups to show volume differences.
Microscope Study Guide
Hybridoma
Microscope Parts
This interactive study guide gives students an effective method to learn more about one of the most basic tools in the lab. The Hybridoma section is just getting started. So far, the section has a series of pictures of the innoculation of a mouse. Since many classroom hybridoma exercise do not require that the mice actually be innoculated in order to teach procedure and technique, you might find that these pictures are a logical alternative.
Close-ups of ocular and objective lenses, iris diaphragm (open and closed), rheostat, fuse, and more.
Microbiology
General Biology Pictures
These pictures of test results, colony diversity, etc. are so vivid they can be used for your lab practical exam. Included are Indole, Bile Esculin, Catalase, and Coagulase tests. There are also images of plates exhibiting Beta hemolysis and penicillin droplet production from penicillium mold.
This section of General Biology pictures is in its infancy. Whenever we find something, get an unusual test result, etc. that can't fit into one of the other categories, it will end up here. Could turn out to be a really amazing Murphy's closet! Check it from time to time to see what's new!
Tissue Culture
The images in the Tissue Culture section illustrate candling an egg, use of a multi-pipettor, the cell scraper, splitting cells, and various types of tissue culture flasks, lids, and plates.
Electrophoresis
Gel boxes, gels, power supplies, combs, casting trays are all shown in this section. There are close-ups showing power level and controls, as well as correctly connected leads.
